The
technology used to deliver cable signals to your home is very precise
and requires sound connections and careful fine-tuning of your TV
to achieve the best picture quality. Start
with our Power
& Safety Checklist.*
We recommend the following if you are experiencing problems with
your Digital Home Communications Terminal (DHCT):
Step 1: Unplug the DHCT for approximately one minute. After
a minute, plug back in and allow terminal to reset. When the LCD
window displays the time, turn power on.
Step
2: Access the "General Settings" menu from the Interactive
Program Guide by pressing the Settings button on your
remote control twice. Use the Up or Down arrow to scroll
through the options to "Set AC Outlet". It should be set
to "Always On". If it says "On With Settop",
press the Right arrow button once to highlight the "Always
On" option. Push the yellow A button to accept this option.
You should then see "Set AC Outlet" highlighted with "Always
On" next to it. Push the Settings or Exit button to exit the
"General Settings" menu.
We
recommend the following for getting the best picture:
Step
1: Make
sure your TV is turned to the channel designated for your home communications
terminal. (Channel 3)
Step
2: If
your TV has Automatic Fine Tuning, switch the AFT/AFC button on
your TV OFF before adjusting the set.
Step
3: Adjust
your fine tuning until you get the best possible picture. Then turn
your AFT/AFC switch back ON.
Step
4: Adjust
the contrast and brightness to suit your taste.
Step
5: Adjust
the vertical and/or horizontal hold as required.
We
recommend the following if you have a reception
problem:
Step
1: Make
sure your TV and home communications terminal are plugged in properly
and turned on. If there is a separate wall switch controlling the
TV and/or terminal outlet, make sure it is turned ON.
Step
2: Make
sure the connectors on the cable between the wall outlet and the
terminal, and the terminal and the TV set, are tight.
Step
3: Check
all the channels to determine if the problem is on only one channel,
on all channels, or on a group of channels.
Step
4: If
you have more than one outlet, check to see if the problem is occurring
on all outlets or just in one room.
