Converters or home communication terminals serve two key purposes:
° Allows older television sets that are not cable-ready to recognize    cable input and expand channel capacity
° Allows cable customers to view premium, pay-per-view and digital    channels as well as HDTV programming

Cable television services are delivered via cable on a composite signal called "RF broadband." Older TV receivers cannot tune to all of the channels sent out on this broadband. Many "cable-ready" TVs and VCRs can, although some older models may not be able to receive all of them.

Digital Cable is a revolution in television delivering over 240 channels of crystal clear pictures and CD-quality sound. A Digital Home Communication Terminal (DHCT) is required in order to properly receive and convert the transmitted signal to a digital one. And, a High-Definition DHCT is required in order to properly receive HDTV digitally delivered signals. The new Time Warner CableCARD gives you the option to connect to cable TV without a set-top box if you have a Digital Cable-ready television set.

If your TV receiver has the appropriate connections, our Digital Home Terminal offers higher quality outputs than the standard RF output found on most converters. These outputs include composite and S-Video outputs as well as baseband audio and digital AC-3 audio outputs. For information on hookup instructions and User Guides see Problem Solutions.
